Embarcadero Conference Brazil 2015 gathered 500+ developers in São Paulo waiting for Delphi 10 Seattle newest releases! In this personal report I bring my experience during the event, slides for my presentations and lots of pictures.
In its 6th edition this was a very special conference for all of us… we were celebrating 20 years of Delphi since first version 1 (for 16-bit Windows 3.1) released in 1995. In my case I was celebrating 17 years of Delphi in my life since version 3 (for 32-bit Windows 95/98). Is there a better way to celebrate than speaking for 5 times in a row in the biggest Delphi event around the world?
Once again I was accepted as a speaker and had the pleasure to be among international speaker Jim McKeeth and all the local guys that made the history of Delphi in Brazil! Must say that I am a huge fan of them all!
The day before the conference I met all my old friends at the IBIS Congonhas Hotel. We (conference speakers and Brazilian MVPs) all managed to stay at same hotel so we would have more time to hang together and have some fun! We played some pool, had dinner and a few (not say lots) cold beers! Brazil is huge… and we leave far away from each other… so this moments are short but very intense in friendship!
On Wednesday,21 morning, at 9am we had the big opening with Fernando Rizzato and Dormevilly Tertius playing some jokes on “Back to the Future” due to the fact that the conference was scheduled to the very same date Marty McFly time-travels with Delorean! Coincidence of not my hole IoT presentation introduction was based on ”Back to the Future”!
We had 4 simultaneous rooms with 25 presentations total covering different aspects of Delphi programming, from basic to advanced level, including, Database, Big-Data, Mobile, Cloud, IoT and much more! The main room is equipped with simultaneous translation from English to Brazilian Portuguese (and this is how the international speakers talk to the public, mainly non english speakers) and all the other rooms are 100% Brazilian Portuguese spoken! You can see full agenda below.
The slides and source code for all the presentations are available for download ia GitHub. You can access the directory and download complete contents for all the events since 2012. Wow!
In the morning I spoke about Gnostice components for easy and almost no code PDF and Office document manipulation. Gnostice is based in Bangalore-India and is willing to localize their products for huge Brazilian market and I shall help them in the near future. Check below my presentation slides available on SlideShare.
The event is held in this very nice place called Espaço APAS, with good infra-structure, good parking lot, easy access to public transportation and we can count with great restaurants within a minute walk.
In the afternoon I spoke about Delphi mobile development for IoT integration with mBed ARM based boards. I was there with Sileide Campos, my intern at TKS, to demonstrate a case study based on the Freescale national competition prize Sileide won 3 months before. First women ever to speak at a Delphi conference in Brazil and believe you or not she is just an intern!
For this second presentation I could count with Leonardo Carlos Baldino, a Jr. developer, that asked me to record the audio during the presentation and gently provided me the .MP3 file available for download here. Thank you very much Leonardo! Also check below presentation slides available on SlideShare.
At the end of the day we all (speakers and Embarcadero staff) headed to a near by Pizza restaurant… more fun, more beers and a great way to say thanks and see you all next year!
